Thursday & Sunday Dinner Closure

You may be aware from all the television and press coverage that the hospitality industry is facing an unprecedented crisis on staff recruitment resulting in huge pressure on employees that is unsustainable.

Driftwood is not immune from these problems and in order for us to safeguard the health of our staff, and to maintain our high standard of service, we need to reduce the workload of our kitchen and front of house team.

So, regretfully, in addition to closing the restaurant on Sunday evenings, we will now also close the restaurant on Thursday evenings effective from 5th August. We will continue to offer a light cold supper menu to hotel residents and drinks and beverages will be available as normal, although we will not be offering a full afternoon tea.

We do not take this decision lightly but as responsible employers we must look after our staff, and this temporary measure will ensure that they have sufficient time off to rest in between shifts.

If you have booked a rate that includes dinner on a Sunday or a Thursday, we will amend your tariff to a bed and breakfast rate for that day. For those on the Ultimate Driftwood Experience, we ask you to have the tasting menu on the Saturday or the Monday and we will amend your tariff for the Sunday and Thursday.

We are sure many of you will be disappointed not to have dinner on these two evenings, but we offer an excellent Sunday lunch and a full lunch menu on Thursday's including our 5 course tasting menu. Booking is advised, please let us know if you would like us to reserve you a table in advance. 

If you would like us to find you a table elsewhere, we will be delighted to help but must caution that many restaurants are likely to be very busy and face similar problems to ourselves.

Please do accept our apologies, we do hope you understand the reasons for us taking this course of action and hope we have your support.

We will of course restore the Sunday and Thursday evening dinner service as soon as we are able. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us should you have any queries.
