"My favourite hotel in the world"

My wife and I spent three nights at Driftwood on Nov 2017 and it's our fourth stay. There is no one thing that makes this hotel so amazing, it is simply a cocktail of wonderfulness. The rooms are very good, the food is absolutely fabulous, the service is great, the views across the sea are calming, the walks along the beaches & coast path from the hotel door are invigorating and the pre-dinner beer in the pub in Portscatho seems like the best ever (and the walk along the beach to get there is a treat in itself).

"Personal touches "

Right up alongside the best seaside hotels in Britain. All kinds of personal touches – like the sea urchin shell placed on the early morning tea tray. Dinners to die for, with succulent local hand-dived scallops and melt-in-the-mouth boeuf en daube.

"Exceeding all expectations!"

We wanted a quiet place with excellent food and beautiful surroundings. Driftwood had all of these in abundance. The staff, room, location and outstanding service exceeded our expectations. The one meal we had (we only stayed two nights - needed longer) was simply one of the best we've ever experienced.

"My new favourite hotel"

I've visited this amazing hotel twice now. Once with friends and our three children and once with my family. Everything is just lovely... location, food, decor, wine list, atmosphere...I could go on. It's high in standard, but retains its relaxed homely feel. The staff are INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!! Love love love.

"A delightful place to stay in a unique location"

The family-run Hotel does exude personal service. It is delightfully positioned with sea views from almost everywhere. The attractive grounds harbour several terraces with private seats looking over the sea. The hotel has a virtually private beach.

"Superb!"

The wonderful weather we had certainly helped and the high point was the food which I’ll review separately but even without those we would have loved The Driftwood. Beds were huge and comfortable, a mistake on the bill was corrected without debate, breakfast was beautiful and all the staff were excellent. We will definitely return.

We would just like to thank you and your very professional and friendly staff for making our stay at The Driftwood this week as enjoyable as it always is.

In light of this very difficult and testing time for everyone, we felt reassured and confident all precautions possible were being taken to try and keep the Coronavirus at bay.

As for Olly and his team in the kitchen.... my goodness we have been fed well! We truly enjoyed every part of each dinner on all three evenings, from the canapés with our pre dinner drink to the petit fours with our mint tea... delicious! The kitchen now belongs to Olly!

We hope you, and everyone at The Driftwood remain in the best of health.

Our fond regards to you all,
John & Carol Stevens

"Lovely location and great staff"

The hotel is superbly located overlooking the sea and has some quite dramatic views. Once you’ve wound your way through some of the pretty villages of Cornwall and arrive at the hotel you find it at the end of a small lane and it consists of a dozen or so rooms. Upon arrival we were greeted by both owner and a senior member of staff who treated us like long lost friends with a warm welcome...

In conclusion I would say that I would definitely recommend Driftwood to anybody that is looking for a hotel in the area and I would compliment both the owners and the staff always having a smile on their face and having a will do attitude. One final comment a nice touch is the coffee they deliver to your room (outside) at an agreed time each day that is complimentary so that you can have coffee in bed before you go for your breakfast.

Similarly excellent food and service in the restaurant with a range of innovative and locally sourced dishes to please all tastes at both breakfast and dinner.

"I just wanted to say "thank you""

I don't quite know how this is possible but our stays with you just get better by the year, the month, the week, the day, the hour and the minute.

As for the food, well it is truly a delight to the taste buds that seem to explode with every mouthful. The dishes are a picture, a work of art....the oyster shells, oh my goodness....!

We are so fortunate to be able to spend time in the special place you have created.

Please pass on my thanks to your wonderful team.

Relaxed ambience and youthful vibe and the food is also excellent…. Without compromising on its sophisticated chic and style, the place is very child-friendly.

"Sublime! Still my favourite restaurant in the world!"

As usual the Driftwood did not disappoint. We had a truly wonderful evening for my partner's birthday starting with complimentary champagne on the terrace looking at the beautiful view below of the mediterranean blue coloured sea and pretty coastline. The staff were their lovely friendly selves and the dinner up to the usual delicious and high standard... I am looking forward to returning on my birthday in July to savour the delilghts of the Driftwood menu.

"So special, every time"

Thank you to the entire team for a wonderful 6-night stay at Driftwood. The reception and office team, the housekeeping team, the restaurant and sommelier team, and the kitchen team, were all excellent. The whole team are consistent in their focus on customer service and the customer experience, with an enthusiastic attention to detail and high standards. There is clearly a real commitment to staff training.

"Our first visit - but we will be coming back!"

We booked a short stay here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Friends had recommended Driftwood based on the location and quality of the food. Both exceeded our expectations. Even on a drizzly December day the view from our room was stunning and the hotel at this time of year was so peaceful. I honestly cannot fault anything. The room was spacious, well appointed and quiet. This hotel is outstanding for three main reasons in my opinion: food; staff and location. I could ramble on and extol the virtues of each category but suffice to say we will be happily hoping to return in 2019 for another short stay.
